ArtJeanee explains with a smile

Hello, it has been a long time and so much has happened in recent years.

No one blog could contain it all. It could be a book. (maybe) Speaking of books, I did put together a book during the pandemic. My mom is also an artist and had always wanted to author a book. Over the years with numerous cross-country moves much of what she wrote during her life had been lost, however she had been doing paintings with her senior center, so that is the book I made for her. She wrote three short stories for it, that reflect where she is now, not where she was. Anyhow, it was an interesting experience to publish a book for mom. I learned a lot and may do one (or more) for myself at some point.

Since I graduated in Dec. 2019 with my BFA, the pandemic hit, and I had to roll with the times. I learned a lot about Bitcoin, Ethereum and NFTs. In fact, I had started a series of artworks that are coffee mandalas, specifically to make a series of NFTs. As time went on and I observed the volatility of the market, specifically ETH and the NFT market, I realized although it was interesting and potentially profitable, it really takes a team to handle the white papers, accounting, and benefits to the buyer community to be successful with an NFT campaign. Once I realized that, I worked to develop this series into art works that I could have as a real-world art show. (Not all pieces are finished yet, so this is a current project still)

Here are samples of the series. Each painting is12 x12 inches and created with a coffee background. After the coffee dries, I will study the piece and see what I can see in the coffee marks. Then I will do a mindful meditation and deep breathing for 5 - 15 minutes. I find that will quiet my business mind and allow creativity to flow. On top of the coffee, I have used inks, enamels, acrylics, pastels, colored pencils, charcoal, alkyd, markers, gesso, oil marker, and watercolor paints, which make these works truly mixed media art.
I have joined SC Artists and have been having lots of fun being back around visual artists. :)

IF YOU WANT TO MAKE YOUR OWN...

If you have coffee left over in the pot every day and tend to throw it away; may I suggest
getting a small canvas and putting it in your sink (or tub) before you throw it out.
Pour the coffee over it and let it dry before you move it. (I usually let it sit overnight).
Then you have a coffee coated canvas, from there, take a few deep breathes, quiet your mind and see where it takes you and use
WHATEVER
paints, markers, decorations, drawings and see what you get.
HAVE FUN
that it is the key to enjoying the process.
YOU CAN DO IT!!
